General introduce ATH is white powder without smell. I t is neutral substance that can react with acid and alkali both. ATH has high thermal stability and contain high percent crystal water that can release to absorb heat and reduce combustible gas density once it is fire , and ATH can promote char to separate the material and fresh oxygen to prevent the fire from spread, Compared with other organic types flame retardant, ATH also has one advantage not to produce toxic gas, so ATH is widely used as halogen free flame retardant in plastic and rubber industry. ATH has become the biggest flame retardant in the world because its wide range of application and low cost.
Basing on the particle size, ATH has many grades to meet different applications. In plastics, rubber or coating, 1-15um ATH are normal used as flame retardant. B ut 25-50um ATH are normally used to produce artificial marble. ATH 1um is the smallest particle size grade. I t is mainly used in wire and cable, coating, ink etc applications that need fine distribution , such as PVC , PE, PP cable etc.
ATH 5-15um grade is the widest used grade that can meet kinds of applications in plastics and rubber, such as kinds of pipe, insulation material, SMC , BMC , coating, conveyor belt etc. It is also used in paper industry to improve the whiteness, opaqueness and ink absorption of the paper Normally, ATH additive amount is very high that is up to 30-100phr because it has another property as filler . T he big dosage is easy to influence the mechanical properties of the material, so its quantity should be controlled. When AL (OH) 3 is composited with other types of fire retardants, such as Zinc Borate, Phosphorus, APP, Antimony Trioxide , synergism is very good that can improve the performance considerably.
ATH can be surface treated by non-polar polymer of Stearic acid or Silicon Oil, the compatibility and combination with plastic material will be improved so that it is easy to evenly distribute into material, then the performance of fire retardant and mechanical properties is better than normal grade AL (OH) 3 .
 Package,Transportation,Storage Standard package is 25kg/bag,500kg/bag,1000kg/bag. And we can design package according to order. Stored in cool, dry and well ventilated environment. Packed and transported as normal chemical goods.
